[ACLU-announce] ACLU Santa Clara Valley Board Election

Dear ACLU Santa Clara Valley Chapter members --
 
On Saturday, September 29th the ACLU Santa Clara Valley  Chapter will hold its annual Membership Meeting  from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the First Unitarian Church, 160 N. Third Street, San Jose CA 95112.  Details will follow by mail and e-mail after the Labor Day weekend.
 
Maya Harris, Executive Director of the ACLU of Northern California, the largest national ACLU affiliate, will be our featured speaker.
 
Our board's Legal Screening Committee Chairman, Michael Chatzky, will review some history of the Santa Clara Valley ACLU chapter.
 
We will also be voting to elect up to six nominees for two year terms on our Board of Directors.
 
If you are interested in being nominated for election to the Board, please call Chapter Chair Peter Yessne ASAP at 408-327-9357.
 
The Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:00 - 9:00 pm and Board members serve on various committees during the year to handle legal screening, outreach, education, communications, newsletter production, the annual Don Edwards Civil Liberties Award selection and presentation event, and a variety of local civil liberties campaigns that are coordinated through the Northern California affiliate.
